Planning a move to another province?

Ever dream of moving out of province?

Whether you’re chasing a career, wanting to be near family, or seeking a fresh start, I've got just what you need to help move you down the road — a 10-step guide to moving out of province.

1) Research your new province.
From cost of living to local culture, getting to know your new home will help you settle in faster. Network with friends and family to find someone who lives in the area to pick their brain!

2) Make a budget.
Moving isn’t cheap, depending on the distance & the size of your inventory. Plan ahead so you don’t find yourself racking up debt.

3) Find a place to call home.
Online research, virtual tours, and local real estate agents can help you find a place that jives with your lifestyle. And don't be afraid to rent - it'll help you become familiar with the area before buying. Don’t forget, my referral network across Canada, right at your fingertips, if you need!

4) Declutter, declutter, declutter.
Moving is the perfect time to declutter. Sell, donate, or toss items you no longer need – lighter packing means smoother moving!

5) Hire a moving company.
Get quotes and understand your insurance options to ensure your sanity and a secure move for your belongings.

6) Pack strategically.
Start packing early, room by room. Label boxes for easy unpacking and prioritize essentials for your first days in the new place.

7) Create a moving day kit.
Pack a bag with essentials – clothes, toiletries, important documents, and snacks – to keep you covered during the moving chaos.

8) Notify important parties.
Forward mail but don’t forget your bank, subscriptions, memberships, insurance, drivers license, voter registration, and, of course, any online shopping platforms.

9) Transfer utilities.
Schedule utility installations to ensure a smooth transition. No one likes to move into a dark, cold house or worse, one without internet.

10) Make new friends and explore new services.
Local Facebook groups can help you meet new folks and build a sense of community. Plus, these new friends can give you intel on local healthcare providers, school & services.

Moving out-of-province is a BIG DEAL, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming so long as you take it step by step.
